| Restylane
is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made of a crystal-clear
gel called NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic
Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already
exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and
fullness to the skin. NASHA is biodegradable and completely
biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
How Does It Work
Hyaluronic acid is present in all living organisms. Its availability
in skin creates volume, and therefore a more youthful and
healthy appearance. Restylane contains hyaluronic acid in
the form of a crystal-clear gel injected into the skin to
lift the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in the skin, Restylane
works together with the body's own hyaluronic acid and joins
forces to create volume.
Results
Immediate and can last from four to nine months.
Safety and Side Effects
Restylane is a safe product. Since hyaluronic acid is naturally
present in the body, the skin does not react to the material.
There have only been a very small number of reactions reported.
These reactions may consist of prolonged but temporary redness,
swelling, itching or tenderness. Most have lasted for a couple
of weeks.
Recovery Time
Immediately after the treatment, there may be a slight redness,
swelling, tenderness or itching sensation at the treated area.
This is a normal result of the injection and it generally
disappears in a day or two.
Comfort
The injections may prick a little but normally no anesthesia
is needed for treatment of wrinkles and folds. Most people
report that the injections are relatively painless. A lip
treatment can be quite uncomfortable and therefore, a nerve
block is normally made. |
